 GHI Fundraising Committee Meeting Minutes – February 7, 2007
6-8:30pm
Pre Meeting: Feb 1 – Send agenda. Ask who would like Chinese ordered.
In attendance: Vi Beaudreau, Kate Emery, Janet Kniffin
Absent: Jennifer Jacobson, Brenda Stiegman
Role and Goal of this committee:
We agreed that our goal will be in future years to come up with an appropriate fundraising goal in terms of dollars, and to determine what fundraising programs we will undertake. We will also work to ensure that we meet our fundraising goals. We think that planning for specific fundraising events is outside the goals of this committee and should probably be handled by a separate committee.
Event Options
- House Parties – This was discussed as a great way to encourage individual donations, and we will talk about this more later. Kate will get the giving pyramid from Brenda that we used for coming up with the individual donation amounts.
- Care Circle Celebration – We have decided that we should aim to have a Care Circle Celebration of some sort around the idea of presenting awards to Care Circles in various categories. The awards will be a way of promoting Carecircle.net and getting care circles listed, and also for raising corporate sponsorship. We won’t have to determine how big or involved it should be until closer to the date. We think sometime in October or very early November would be best. To get the ball rolling it was suggested that we start seeding the event with monthly CareCircle Awards of $100.
- Juried Art Show – This could work, and if we do it, the spring time would be best. It will depend on where we could host it as well.
- Auction – We should do this as a part of the Care Circle Celebration rather than as a separate event, and yet with the online ebay auction possibility we can suggest to possible donors that if they don’t want to give us cash they can give us stuff, and Vi will sell this. Vi will talk to the board briefly about this opportunity at our next meeting.
Logistics - We need a chair, and a regular meeting date/time. Kate will talk to Brenda to see if she can take this on.
There being no more business to attend to the business portion of the meeting was adjourned at 8:10.
