Q. What is a Global Harmony Care Circle?

A. Global Harmony Care Circles are small groups of people who agree to gather on some regular basis, to care. They have listed with GHI to have access to resources, to be eligible for grants, and to allow the good works that they do to be a source of inspiration to others around the world.

Q. Why start or join a Global Harmony Care Circle?

A. If you are someone who feels a missing connection to fellow human beings; If you are someone who wants to reach out and do something to help our world; If you believe that compassionate acts can change the world, then you may find what you’re looking for in a Global Harmony Care Circle.

  • Inspire others by showing what a small group of people can do.
  • Give you a tool for attracting new members to your group.
  • Provide you with an online forum to connect with members as well as the general public.
  • Give you an opportunity to share your ideas and get support from leaders of other similar groups.
  • Eligibility to receive donations to assist in your work.
  • Fundraising support.

Q. What can you expect from a Care Circle?

A. A successful Care Circle will leave you feeling good. You will feel uplifted and your faith in humanity will be restored. You will have energy and enthusiasm for making a difference. And you will want more!

Q. What happens at a Global Harmony Care Circle?

A. Each Care Circle will have it's own personality based on it's membership. The only component that is common to all Care Circles is the commitment to caring. Caring is compassion in action, and it's the job of each Care Circle to find a way to express that desire to help.

Other components may fit into a Care Circle depending on the groups interests and abilities. Some examples might be reading, meditation, knitting, singing, drums, chanting, dance, sharing of art, story telling...

Q. How does a Circle find the right Compassionate Action?

A. Often the Circle leader or members have an issue that’s close to their hearts. This makes for a natural starting point. For groups that want to do “something” but can’t figure out which, the Global Harmony Institute offers help in choosing:

  • Come to a Public Care Circle where you'll meet neighbors, make friends, and find ways to help.
  • Brainstorm with a group. List anything you can think of that you'd like to help with. Then ask everyone to pick their top 3. Find out which issue has the most votes and start there.
  • Make a list and throw a dart.
  • Ask your mother.
  • Meditate or pray with the question - “what should I do?” The answer will come.
  • Over time your Circle can move on to other issues which will probably rise very organically from the group.

Q. Why list a Care Circle with Global Harmony?

A. When you list your Care Circle with Global Harmony you become part of the web of support that connects us all. When someone is feeling discouraged and ineffective, they can take heart in the knowledge of all the other people who are our there and who care.

You also gain access to resources which might help you and your Care Circle. Ideas for inspiration, activities, and actions are contributed by other Care Circles.

Q. How do I list a Care Circle?

A. List a Care Circle by completing the form on line. You will be asked to provide information on yourself and your vision for the group, and this will be submitted to Global Harmony for approval. Once approved you will receive a Care Circle Leader Certificate, and Guidelines for Leading a Care Circle. The only other requirement is that you provide feedback from time to time on how the group is doing. There is a requested donation by the circle which will be used to facilitate development of leadership training and resources.

Q. How much does it cost to list a Care Circle?

A. There is no charge to list your Care Circle, but new listings are reviewed prior to acceptance.
