Jennifer Boyd - Advisor
www.boydproductions.net

Emmy Award winning documentary producer Jennifer Boyd, is owner of Boyd Productions, LLC and co-founder of Purple Onion Productions, a non-profit documentary and educational media organization.

For 21 years, Jennifer has been producing, directing and writing award winning documentaries for television and non-profit organizations. Her projects have taken her across the United States and to countries such as Haiti, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Ghana.

In 2003, Jennifer produced, directed and wrote Wall of Fire, a half hour documentary that explores fire safety through the eyes of fire fighters, survivors, investigators and child arsonists. The program will be distributed nationally on PBS in the fall of 2004.

Currently, Jennifer is producing Teens: Behind the Wheel. In this PBS documentary, independently controlled cameras are being used for 6 months to monitor the driving behavior of newly licensed teens. After 3 months of monitoring, the technique has already provided valuable insight into the challenges and risks associated with teen driving. The documentary is scheduled to air in 2005.

Jennifer has also produced and directed educational documentaries for such clients as the Peace Corps, US Department of Justice, TechnoServe, and the International Fund for Animal Welfare. Her programs for the Peace Corps aired on TLC (The Learning Channel) and public television, and they have been shown at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. Her work with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) focused on documenting the Harp Seal population off the coast of Newfoundland. Her involvement with that organization afforded her the opportunity to do extensive aerial and ice shooting while working directly with scientists and activists.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has won numerous awards including multiple Emmy, ACE and Telly awards. She has also received recognition for her documentary work from a variety of community organizations including People Action for Clean Energy (PACE) for her work on energy issues and the Massachusetts Coalition of Juvenile Firesetter Prevention Programs for her documentary Wall of Fire.

Jennifer graduated cum laude from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University. She lives with her husband and two children in West Hartford, Connecticut.
